Elephant in Camouflage

This piece is almost like one of those Magic Eye images that you have to stare at awhile before you can see what is there… hence the camouflage part of the name. Imagine a big ol’ elephant trying to blend in with the jungle around him!  It is fun seeing the viewer at first be puzzled, then delighted when they “find” the image!

The piece was done by first creating a background with Citra Solv altered pages, on which I alternated layers of painting, stamping, painting, collage, and more painting with the final addition of Derwent Inktense blocks. I like the dark, rich, look that the multiple layers form.

Have a great artful week!

  1. Beautiful, inspirational artwork! When I first saw this, I wondered if CitraSolv played a role. Must try this technique! Thanks for sharing.
