Do you ever think about the power of language…both for good and harm? As my art journal page reads, “Stray little words that have the power to change lives. The lure and magic of words has always intrigued me with their power and influence on the world around me. Words spoken, printed, even just thought can change both me and my world, for both for good and bad. They can stir a crowd to action, they can crush a friend. They can determine the path of a child’s life and they can stop someone cold in their tracks. They can bring both harm and healing to those around me…”
Christ came as God’s Words in the flesh. Words that came to fullness in LIFE. Life bringing, life saving, powerful Words. Words that bear repeating and sharing, and living. Shouts and whispers of God’s Love to be spoken and written and shared. They are too important to be left unsaid, and today might be the only day left to say them!
This journal page spread was painted on magazine pages on which book pages had been glued. A coat of gesso and paint in turquoise, black, and white acrylic make the background. On top of that are stenciled letters of the alphabet and the words “Word Love”. The woman’s strands of hair have an assortment of words lettered in. I used the neck and chest for journal space. The woman serves to divide the layout with a hand lettered motto painted to the right.
