This week’s doodle is based on Luke 2:19. What was it like to be the mother of the Savior of the world?
There are so many things that I have wanted for my kids this week….finals to go well, the new twin granddaughters to be able to leave the hospital, college finances to sort themselves out, the new job to be everything she dreamed of, safe traveling, disagreements to be resolved, …. a mother’s wish list seems to be unending.
What did Mary wish for her Son? I am sure it was not for Him to be ridiculed, or beaten, or mocked, or crucified for things He didn’t do. Those are not a mother’s dreams. Yet, there was a higher calling for her Son than her own wishes. She had to start preparing to let Him go, even as she held Him close. Is it really any different for any of us? Kind of helps me put things in perspective.
