On this day of remembrance, many of us will find it an occasion for refreshed grief. We have all lost someone dear to us. For some it is a long string of losses. Grief is an inevitable part of our existence, so much so that we have this holiday to “celebrate” and honor the memory of those not only lost in service to our country, but also all who have been lost to us.
I hope you find comfort in these words of Leo Tolstoy…
“Only people who are capable of loving strongly can also suffer great sorrow, but this same necessity of loving serves to counteract their grief and heals them.” Leo Tolstoy
