Smash books are one of my items that I have a hard time keeping up with the demand! Recently, over the span of a few days of work with the help of my able assistant/daughter, we made a load more of them. A batch had already been whisked away to Bluebird Books in Hutchinson. These will be headed to Tessera Fine Art Gallery in Wichita, and the Vintage Market Days show coming up the first weekend in May.
On many of the books, I leave the beautiful original book cover, but if the cover is less than beautiful, I cover it with my own hand painted deli paper. On this one, I used my new 12 x 12 circus stencil.
I used super durable book binding tape on the spine. The inside is filled with all kinds of fun papers, pockets, and a dab of ephemera to get you started smashing!
One of my favorite features of this particular journal is the vintage key chain embellishment on the cover.
This kind of stuff was prevelant when I was a kid, and I was fascinated by how you look at one angle and see one image, and a different angle reveals a totally different image. Magic! So I had to find a special place for this little guy!
Hope you enjoyed my little smash book tour!
