I was so pleased when I heard that Hutchinson was included in an article in the Summer 2016 issue of Kansas magazine as one of the “Kansas communities leading the charge in promoting local creativity and culture.” The other communities were Lawrence, Dodge City and Topeka. Makes me rather proud of our little city. Of course, as the article acknowledged, a large part of the credit goes to Jennifer Randall and her efforts in instituting Third Thursday, now in it’s eighth year.
The other part of the credit goes, of course, to the people of the community, without which Third Thursday would not survive. I have been pleased with the willingness of Hutchinson to embrace and encourage the arts.
And, of course it was pretty fun to turn to the page about Hutchinson and find my “Windswept” sunflower, as well as my artist trading card make and take table being enjoyed by some young art enthusiasts.
And if you are anywhere near Hutchinson, Kansas, be sure and attend next week’s Third Thursday (June 16) for their extra special art extravaganza with all kinds of fun participatory art projects being planned!
