If you have been around awhile, you know that in 2020 I resolved to create daily in an art journal/planner. Well that is all finished up and it was such a blessing to me that I decided to continue the practice in 2021. If you want to see the full year flip through check out this You Tube video:
This year I am using a Hobonichi Techo Cousin in an attempt to combine my functional planner with my daily creativity pages.
Here are some things that I have learned so far…
- I have to practice some restraint about gluing in ephemera and using stickers. Since this is also my planner, I don’t want it as ridiculously bulky as my 2020 journal ended up. I do think I will still do some gluing, but will have other journals that I can do that in.
- Watercolor works wonderfully on the Tomoe River paper which comprises the pages in the Hobonichi planners. The pages do crinkle a bit, but I don’t mind that!
- Using a little clip on the bottom right corner keeps the pages from getting curled and bent as I work on them.
- I am keeping my ‘rules’ about how to use the daily pages pretty loose. If I want to turn them into a to do list, that’s fine. If I want them to be a diary entry, that’s fine. If I want to rant about something, that’s fine too! My one rule is to be creative every day. It is amazing what daily practice does both for our skills, and our psyche!
