“Friends for Life”

“Friends for Life” is painted in acrylic on a surface that I prepared with Golden’s Crackle Paste.  The thicker you put it on, the bigger the cracks.  It creates a very absorbant finish which can be a bit tricky to paint on.  I have the best luck by just adding layer after layer of paint until I get it where I want it.  I used a high flow mix of colors on the background.  This is the second piece I have done of two giraffes.  They are such fun creatures!

This one is done on a 14 x 18 cradled wood panel and is currently hanging at Larksfield Place in Wichita until Sept. 29.

This is absolutely beautiful. Giraffes are my favorite animals, and your rendering of them is wonderful.
