Last week my family and I took a day trip and visited the little Kansas town of Lucas. It is probably most famous for the Garden of Eden, created by S.P. Dinsmoor in the early 1900s, but there is an amazing amount of folk art in this tiny little town. One of the things we really enjoyed was the mosaic public restroom. It is made all the more attractive by the community effort involved.
Inside were some beautifully intricate pieces done by Mri- Pilar.
Makes me excited to get back to work on my kitchen backsplash!
I’ll leave the rest of the Lucas attractions for another day!

Thanks for the great photos of the mosaics. That restroom must not have been there 15 years or so ago when we stopped at Lucas to see the Garden of Eden. This was back in the days of film camera and I was getting such great shots of my son and husband, or so I thought. When we got back on the road, I discovered there was no film in the camera!

That’s a most charming public restroom.

Wow, some communities are so loving. It reminds me of Barbara Streisand’s song: People who need people are the luckiest people in the world.
