I had so much fun with “Amelia”! Most of my art ends up being animals, but I am really drawn to faces, and not necessarily real ones, but the whimsical sort of face. I think Amelia fits that description to a t! I used Shiva oil paintsticks for the face, and to tone down the red background it started with. I used touches of Sennelier oil pastel in a rosy tone on top of that. The hair…. well lets just say I let myself go wild! There are scraps I saved from my daughter’s wedding projects, bits of a postcard print of my own art, a little guy from pattern instructions, and other juicy little tidbits from my treasured scrap bin. I think the overall effect gives Amelia a jaunty steampunk look.
What are some ways whimsy turns up in your art?
