I have been busy, busy, busy, and have gotten behind on posting new artwork. I am currently exhibiting at the First National Bank in Hutchinson, and the lobby where the art hangs is HUGE and called for some larger than ordinary art. Both of these pieces are on 24 x 30 inch deep stretched canvases.
“Conversationally Yours” is a collage of a rooster and hen on a Citra Solv background using my chicken wire stencil. The feathers were made of assorted papers and then stitched on my sewing machine before being attached to the background. I always get a little attached to my collage characters.
I also get attached to my little scrap pile of papers, so save them for the just right little touch on a future project.
The next piece is quite different, and a new style for me. Awhile back I taught a pouring workshop where we used all kinds of recipes and techniques to achieve different results pouring acrylic paints and making beautiful abstract art. Afterward, I didn’t want to stop pouring! So I did this seascape as a mostly poured painting, just going back in after the pour was dry to define some rocks in this seascape which I name “Turbulent Tidepool”.
Here is a closer look at an in progress shot as well as some details of the rocks.
I am looking forward to the next poured painting, which I think will be a field of sunflowers…. if I can pull it off!
