I blogged about this handmade Christmas gift idea some years back, but I decided to pull it out again for any of you trying to put together a meaningful, week before Christmas, gift!
After many calls from my grown children on how to fix their favorite childhood foods, I decided one year to make them each a recipe book for Christmas… artsy style of course!
I treated each recipe as an artjournal/scrapbook page. Then I made 8 copies (for each of my eight children) which I laminated and placed in their own personalized binder. I am surprised how much I turn to this book myself for these simple favorites!
The front side of the page had the name of the recipe, and maybe a fun image of one of the kids who especially liked it. The back side had the actual recipe.
Each section has a divider with a food related quote.
Some of the pages feature the recipes of loved ones who are no longer with us. It is sweet to think of them every time we use the recipe.
The great thing is, I have added more pages from time to time, so it is an ever expanding gift! I kind of hope one day my kids will start making their own recipe pages to share!
Here is our favorite Sugar Cookie recipe that we would make every Christmas, almost always cutting out holly leaves because they were easy for everyone to help decorate with green frosting and the youngest ones adding red hots for the berries.
What recipes would go into your family’s recipe book?

This is unbelievably sweet … what a gift to be treasured for many years to come!
