Seeing 2020

This week has been a bit challenging for me because I have had no internet service, and have had little luck getting a technician out to take care of it. I have had to work around that with my phone and a hotspot, but things just don’t work the same as on my desk top! I am going to have to do a journal page about teaching old dogs new tricks!

Those little life frustrations are exactly why I so enjoy the retreat of this little daily journaling project. It helps me put things in perspective, and the very act of creating is good for the soul!

So here we are with another week under our belts in the Seeing 2020 daily creativity challenge!

Monday, Jan 13 – POWER – I used magazine cutouts, stickers, a stenciled lightening bolt from my Bible Journaling 12 x 12 stencil, and a hand doodled border around the page.

Tuesday, Jan 14 – SEE WHAT YOU ARE BUILDING – I hand cut letters from a magazine page, and pieced together a couple of different houses also cut from a magazine.

I like the graphic look of the black and red scheme on the next two days. I don’t always worry about the pages on each side of a spread matching, but I find I am always more pleased when I stick to similar colors for both.

Wednesday, Jan 15 – ON THE DARKEST DAY – I kept it simple with some hand lettering and a sticker. I like the look of the scribbled in letters.

Thursday, Jan 16 – ODDITIES – The wonky little gal with red hair is from an art postcard by Nate Rightmeier. I love collecting art from other artists in the form of postcards or notecards, but then don’t know where to store them. I think my Seeing 2020 journal is the perfect place to incorporate them! I am sure to include their contact information, both so I can credit them for their work, and in case I ever need to contact them!

Friday, Jan. 17 – ONE OF A KIND – I gave this whole spread a coat of soft, matte, blue acrylic. One of a kind makes me think of both the individuality of people, and of snowflakes. I have some great foam snowflake stamps , so I just stamped on some white paint. I used a white signo uniball pen to outline some of the snowflakes, and to simply add the words of the prompt. A couple snowflake stickers that I had around and the page was done. Some days I do a lot of writing, and others, like this one, I don’t do any!

Saturday, Jan. 18 – BLUE – all the phrases associated with blue seem to have to do with depression, which can be a very real winter time issue for many people. To me, however, blue is a serene, and calm color which makes me feel happy! I did the minimum of writing on this page, accented with strips of blue patterned washi tapes and papers cut at an angle. I also added a set of eyes from my eyes digital download sheet.

Sunday, Jan. 19 – GRACE AND PEACE – Simply a handlettered version of 2 Peter 1:2, colored in with Prismacolor colored pencils, and a blue gel pen for the shadow. I love the word combination of Grace and Peace, talk about putting things in perspective!

Because of technical difficulties, I don’t have the coloring page for this verse yet. Eventually I will get it to you!
