With Gratitude and a Gift for you!

2020 had been a tricky year for all of us, but you guys have made it so much easier for me with your continued support and encouragement. This little art business of mine would not have gone anywhere without all of you! That is why I want you to be the first to know about my new online teaching platform . In fact, I am so excited about it that I am offering my very first course on it as a Christmas and big ‘thanks so much’ gift to you!

Collage and Paint is a mini course to help introduce you to Teachable, my art methods, and is a little sample, or taste test, of bigger class offerings to come. Since many will not be having the usual holiday gatherings, maybe a little art making will smooth the holidays for you. Take the opportunity to enjoy a risk free art class from the safety and comfort of your own home.

I will be demonstrating the making of the above 12 x 12 artwork ‘Calm and Collected’, a fairly typical example of my mixed media process. It includes 4 videos, typed instructions and links, and a pdf pattern.

I am a bit sad about not having in person workshops for a time, but there are definitely some perks that I have noticed to online workshops:

  • You can view as many times as you want.
  • In contrast to real time workshop demos, I can fast forward through drying time and boring bits!
  • Everyone can have a good view of what I am doing, always a challenge during an in person class.
  • I can provide clickable supply links to make it easy for you to find the supplies that I use.
  • Workshops can be available to more of you!

PATREON

Another way that I am continuing to connect with you is through Patreon which is like a subscription service where you can choose your level of support/reward and be part of a little community of other patrons. I am already having so much fun dreaming up goodies for my patrons!

You Tube

I have also dusted off my old You Tube channel and started posting videos again. Here is the most recent one on preparing my 2021 Hobonichi planner:

You can also find other journal flip throughs and some workshop trailers on there. Hopefully many more videos to come in 2021!

Still Making Art

And never fear, I am still making art and showing where I can! Kudos to local galleries who have made the best of the situation and have pivoted to cleverly hosting online tours, receptions, and more! I currently have art at these central Kansas locations: City Arts Main Hall in Wichita, Carriage Factory Gallery in Newton, Derby Library in Derby, the Workroom in Wichita, Jimmy’s Egg in Wichita, and Clayworks in Hutchinson.

My Etsy shop is also still going strong with a record number of stencil sales this year! I only wish I could see what everyone has been creating with them! Of course that is also the place to find prints, journals, and more!

So, even though almost all art fairs were cancelled this year, I have still managed to stay plenty busy! How about you? Have you done more creating in 2020, or less? What creative practice are you hoping to bring into 2021?

I would love to hear from you! And don’t forget to hope over to Teachable for your free mini class!

Merry Christmas and a Creative New Year!
