Wichita Spirit Art

After this first little 6 x 12 inch grid style abstract of the Wichita Skyline, I have been hooked on making more in the spirit of Wichita.  One of the things I loved about this first piece was the colors, so I made a 12 x 16 inch Keeper of the Plains in similar colors, with the addition of a mint green that I love….

If you look close within the Keeper, you can see a head of wheat, part of the ICT flag, and an airplane. The squares in this piece are made from paper, paint, chalk, and oil paint stick.

And of course there also has to be a Wichita flag, also done in a similar style.  I had fun finding perfect little bits to include in the piece, like images of people, a honeybee and buffalo out of the dictionary, postage stamps, and other little treasures.

I will be taking all three of these to Tessera Fine Art Gallery tomorrow.
