More From My Art Journal…

I have been still having lots of fun with art journal play getting myself all excited for next week’s four day workshop.  One of my favorites lately, and also one of the easiest has been this glue page.  I just picked random magazine images that I liked and stuck them all on a page together.  I am thinking this would be a fun way to deal with all the random little reference photos I keep around… a whole reference art journal book!

This is another super easy and quick page. I simply used a brayer to lay down the blue background on top of a pieced together junk journal page, and then fingerpainted a vase of flowers on top. I am going to add a drop of essential oil onto the page so you truly get a fragrant effect when you open the page.

Of course I had to jump on the bandwagon and make a flamingo page. I plan to use a hot pink Moonlight gel pen to do some journaling down around their legs.  I cut some flamingo masks to help me paint the negative spaces around the flamingos on a peachy pink background.  Then I added some foliage with my new Tropical Leaves stencil which also includes 4 leaf masks!

This page makes me think of my grandmother and one of her sisters growing up in Kansas. My mother also grew up on a Kansas farm, and I am proud to say I am a Kansas girl too.  The photos are actually replicas by Tim Holtz.  I love his pack of photo cutouts, they are so handy to use when art journaling! I also used my own Sunflower Stencil to surround these young ladies. I have recently fallen in love with the gold gelly roll pen and I have been adding gold accents to everything!

As you see, I haven’t done much journaling on these pages.  I will probably go back at some point and add a little, but for now, I will just let the art speak for itself.

Have a great weekend!
