Happy Birthday Kansas!

Tomorrow we celebrate the 158th anniversary of the statehood of Kansas. Strange to think that the state was only 37 years old when my grandmother was born in 1898! Kansas is often underappreciated because…. well I am not sure why! While I love the drama of the oceans, the mountains, and the forests, all of which Kansas lacks, I also love the enormous Kansas sky, the friendly hardy people, and the quiet.

I have shared this coloring page before, but in case you missed it, here it is again!

I have also done a lot of art pieces based on my home state. Like these that I have turned into note card sets which are for sale in my etsy shop:

How many Kansans, former Kansans, or wannabe Kansans out there?

Although I live in Fort Worth I do love Kansas. My daughter lives in Kansas City and it is one of my favorite places!

Marilyn, where there are people we love, our hearts are connected to it for sure. Hope you enjoy your visits to Kansas!

I’m a transplant from Illinois, though I wasn’t born and raised here, I’ve lived here for more than half my life. I think, that qualifies calling it ‘home’.

Yes Kayann, I must have all of these notecard sets. I was just telling myself the other day that I need to write more. Email is OK but you lose that personal touch.

    These are all gorgeous!

So true Chris! I used to be so much better about sending cards. I need to get back in the groove of it, I know how much I enjoy receiving the rare handwritten card!
