Here We Go! First Entries for Seeing 2020!

2020 is here, and so is the Seeing 2020 daily challenge! If you are new around here and missed what it is all about, read here, here, and here!

I have been so excited about this challenge that I have hardly been able to contain myself! In case you missed it, here is the prompt sheet for January:

And here are the pages that I have done in response to the prompts for this week:

January 1 and 2 – As you can see, anything goes on my pages. I have used digital downloads, stickers, and writing on these pages. If you want to use something I used, resources are listed below!

January 3 and 4 – This spread got a coat of paint before I began. For most of my pen work I used a Pigma Micron pen, but when writing on top of gesso, or painted surfaces, I prefer to use a Signo Uniball 207 pen as you don’t risk messing up the tip as you do with a micron. If you feel hesitant about writing, you may even want to use a Frixion pen that can be erased. I opt for plain ol’ black, but colors can be a fun choice as well!

As you can see, I covered up the date information that came printed in my Moleskin Daily Planner, and lettered in my own.

January 5 – I will consistently do a Scripture that fits the prompt every Sunday, and most of the time have a coloring page for you too!

Love this and looking forward to working in my just delivered moleskin. The pages seem delicate is there a special way to treat before journaling on?

Tina, I use watercolor, Micron pen, colored pencils, and acrylic paint just fine on my pages. If I use alot of marker or most ink pads to stamp it does tend to bleed through a bit. I have mostly stuck with the mediums that don’t bleed and I do a lot of gluing and simple drawing (I keep most of my pages pretty quick). However, if you want to do a lot of markers and stamping, I would suggest prepping the pages with matte gel medium (gives a smooth finish) or clear gesso which gives a finish with some tooth. If you use clear gesso, be cautioned that micron pens do not work well on top and a ball point pen (I use the uniball 207) will work better on top. My favorite clear gesso to use is by Art Basics because it has less tooth (roughness) than Liquitex.

I am so glad you are joining in!
